GR M25 -- 3 Units Publications Design QuarkXpress Prerequisite: GR M23 Class Hours: 2 lecture, 3 lab Introduces principles of publication design using Quark Xpress. Explores informational graphics and design alternatives, emphasizing effective and efficient communication of information. Covers software, type, graphic elements, screens, photographs, illustrations, templates, style sheets, spot color and process color separations. Requires production of newsletter and other publications. Applies to Associate Degree.

GR M27 -- 3 Units Digital Photography: PhotoShop Prereq: Any GR course Class Hours: 2 lec, 3 lab Introduces electronic photography and image processing on the Macintosh computer, using silver halide films, electronic still cameras and various scanning techniques to produce photographic output. May be taken two (2) times for credit. Applies to Associate Degree.

Introduces mechanical and electronic applications of production art techniques for graphic reproduction. Emphasizes principles of design, including the creation of rough, comprehensives, camera-ready art and the use of overlay materials. Provides theory and practice in small lithographic press operation and stripping/platemaking procedures. Emphasizes operational functions of the printing units, inking units, dampening and delivery units as well as support preparation for stripping; impositioning and assembly; and selection, care and making of presensitive lithographic plates. Introduces characteristics of photographic materials and use of a gallery camera for the production of line negatives.
