Why Become a VCAS member?
 
 

Great Potential:  Ventura County is rich in Archeological resources.

Action:  City and county ordinances have been and are being proposed to protect archeological resources.

Field Trips:  Professional leadership is provided for visits to sites of  archeological interest.

Lectures:  Monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of the month, September - June, provide illustrated lectures on a wide range of archeological and ethnological topics.

Training:  The society conducts an educational program for officially recording member's archeological experience and participation.  Special training programs are occasionally arranged under the guidance of local professorials or local colleges.

Library:  One of the most comprehensive collections of local archeology is owned by the Society which is available to members, concerned  and qualified researchers.

Environmental Concern:  Preservation is favored over salvage.  Where possible, public ownership of significant sites is sought.

Communication:  A Newsletter is published monthly.  The Society serves as a forum for persons with archeological interests to meet together in common concern.
