Scholarship Rules and Regulations










GOAL:
                The VCAS will attempt to grant one scholarship to a Ventura County student majoring
                in Anthropology/Archeology each year.  The base scholarship is $100.00, however,
                depending on the annual fundraising endeavors, it may be more.
 

TIME TABLE:
            September     Committee Chair sends notification to participating colleges and/or
                                     universities.
            April              Board decides on the amount of scholarship based on funds available.
            April 15th      Deadline for scholarship applications.
            June 1st         Announcement of recipient
 

QUALIFICATIONS:
                1. Resident of Ventura County, must claim the County as home address even when in
                    residence at an academic institution.
                2. Properly enrolled as a full-time student at a recognized academic institution.
                3. Declared Anthropology major, specialization in Archeology encouraged.
                4. Grade point average of 3.0 or above in all academic work attempted, and
                    Withdrawals and Incompletes do not comprise more than one quarter of total units
                    attempted.
                5. If less than 30 units of academic work have been accumulated, applicant will be
                    requested to submit an essay of not less than 500 words on a topic to be provided by
                    the selection committee.
                6. A previous recipient of the VCAS scholarship may be considered for subsequent
                    scholarships if:
                            a. He/she maintains an anthropology major.
                            b. Continues as a full-time student at a recognized academic institution.
                            c. Maintains a grade point average of 3.0 or above in all academic work
                                attempted, and Withdraawals and Incompletes do not comprise more than
                                one quarter of total units attempted.
                            d. Demonstrates through course work and/or extra curricular activities a growth
                                and advancement in the disciple on anthropology.
                            f.  Submits a completed application form within the stated deadline.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
            1. Completed Application form.
            2. Transcript(s) (Official/Unofficial) of all academic work attempted to date, plus work in
                progress.
            3. Letter of application.
            4. Essay, if applicable.
            5. Meets the deadline of April 15th.
