ARCHIVAL: Consisting of at least a three person committee made up of the Archivist, who acts as chairperson, the President or his/her Board delegate and one or more Members-At-Large. The purpose of this committee is: to organize, post and maintain a current inventory of the VCAS's archival materials. The committee will also oversee the activities of the archives such as: to accept collections for curation, organize work details and make collections available to qualified researchers.
HOSPITALITY: Most often consisting of a single individual with the authority to recruit other participants. The principle functions of this committee are: to store the VCAS refreshment equipment, bring said equipment to meetings and organize refreshments for meetings and other general functions of the Society.
NEWSLETTER: Consisting of the Newsletter Editor with authority to recruit other participants. The main purpose of this committee is to publish and distribute the VCAS Newsletter to eligible recipients from September through June. The VCAS publishes a monthly newsletter from September through to June. All membership categories are entitled to a newsletter, exchanges are also made with those archaeological societies who reciprocate with their newsletters, a newsletter and a membership application is sent to each guest (once only and one to a family) at our monthly meetings who so indicate with their address on the Monthly General Meeting Sign-In Sheet, and the guest lecturer for the monthly meeting. The Newsletter will be under the control of an Editor, who has the authority to recruit any participant helpers as may be needed, and has full editorial autonomy. The Newsletter Editor retains a copy of each month's newsletter and files them in the VCAS ARCHIVES at the end of a volume year.
NOMINATION: Comprising a Board Member with the authority to recruit at least two other participants from the general membership. The purpose of this committee is to pole the members and secure at least three candidates for election the VCAS Board at the May General Meeting.
MONTHLY MEETING PROGRAM: The President-elect will arrange for programs to be offered to the General Membership at the regular monthly meetings. The VCAS Board authorizes the President-elect to spend up to $25.00 on each monthly program from September through May, this sum may be offer to a speaker or may be used to rent a film or video. In the event that the program is provided by a member of the VCAS in good standing, that member will not be offered an honorarium; but will be offered his/her next year's dues in whatever category they might be participating. If a member presents more than two programs in a given year only one year's membership will be offered.
SPECIAL EVENTS: The VCAS Board may at any time organize
special ad-hoc committees under the direction of a Board Members to carry
out special projects.
