Course
Description:
NTS MO3,
Current Issues in
Nutrition, 3 units. Focuses
on contemporary nutrition concerns, including nutrition and stress, body image,
wellness, nutrient supplements, energy balance and eating disorders. Includes
review of career options in health care fields. Prerequisite: NTS M01
Objectives:
Describe
the sequence of metabolic events that occur during periods of stress caused by
physical injury, infection or extreme psychological demands.
Analyze the signs, symptoms and physical consequences of extremes
in weight (morbid obesity to eating disorders). Propose lifestyle (diet and
exercise) strategies that would prevent early development of chronic disease and
promote wellness.

Analysis” in the “Diet
Analysis Plus” software available in the bookstore, $25.
