Notes:
- We will treat the above as a goal; some minor deviations may be necessary.
- Please check the website often as updates will be posted there.
- If you miss class, keep up with the reading. Attendance is important in class.
- Lab work will be assigned in class and due dates will be given at that time as well as posted online.
- For each class meeting, there will be 3 hours of online labwork
- Instructor will be available for assistance online on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am-10:50am
Class Objectives:
At completion of course student will be able to:
- Create basic worksheets using Excel
- Edit and format a worksheet
- Customize Excel
- Create charts
- Demonstrate the basics of Excel functions and apply appropriate functions to active worksheets
Class rules:
- Students will arrive on time and be ready for class before attendance is called
- All assignments are due at the beginning of the class unless stated otherwise on the syllabus
- For daily participation points student must be present and participate for the total scheduled class time
- Students will not use computers until instructor has finished talking
- Students will not use computers to play games of any kind

Tools needed:
A USB drive with at least 512MB should be purchased for storing data files. Keep all files created even after lab work has been turned in.
Grading:
The grade for this course will be determined by the completion of:
- Lab assignments - worth 120 points
- Concept Checks done online - 80 points
- Midterm - worth 200 points
- Participation - worth 150 points
- Final Project - worth 150 points
- Final - worth 300 points
Scale:
900-1000 = A
800- 899 = B
700- 799 = C
600- 699 = D
Below 600 = F
