Gibbon Center Excursion

Extra Credit Possibility (due with the L.A. Zoo project)

The Gibbon Center (www.gibboncenter.org) is a private, not-for-profit facility in Santa Clarita. You can earn ten (10) points of extra credit if you visit the Gibbon Center and then write 1-2 pages on the most interesting things you learned there.

The Gibbon Center is a non-profit organization that relies on admission fees and donations \for its continuing operations. Their address is 19100 Esguerra Rd., Santa Clarita, CA 91390.

Admission fee (all of which goes directly to support the gibbons) is as follows:
$12 per non-student, non-faculty adult,
$10 per student 13 years and over, instructors/professors, and senior citizens, and
$7 per child between the ages of 3 and 12 years
Children under 3 years of are free

The college level educational tours last from 1 to 1.5 hours, and can be on any day of the week. The focal point of the lecture may be any of the following: species identification, nutrition, behavior, captive management, deforestation and the plight of the gibbon, or preventive medical care.
