Using Books

This module covers how to search the Moorpark College Library Catalog.

When you have completed this module you should be able to:

  • recognize that the Library Catalog contains more than books
  • find books and audiovisual materials on a topic using a Keyword search
  • find books and audiovisual materials by title, author, or subject heading
  • find periodicals (magazines, newspapers and journals) by using a title search
  • identify the location of books, periodicals and audiovisual materials
  • read a Library Catalog call number and use it to find where books and other materials are shelved in the Library
  • use the limit function in the Library Catalog
  • find an item placed on reserve by your instructor using a course reserve search
  • access your personal library account to see items you checked out from the Library

If you cannot find what you need and need assistance, please check with the reference librarian on duty.  From off-campus, feel free to call (805) 378-1472 to speak to a reference librarian.
