The Web can be a good research source for:

  4. locating information from the U.S. government
  5. finding quick facts and useful reference sources
  6. catching up with current national and local news
  7. gathering public opinions on people
  8. finding information not found in mainstream sources
  9. finding executive, judicial and legislative information
  10. connecting to periodical sites
  11. connecting to federally funded medical and educational databases
  12. The Web is good for online shopping, purchasing books, music, clothes, and others
  13. connecting to friends, professionals and other people sharing similar interests though social networking sites such as myspace.com, facebook and blogs
  14. And CONNECTING to Moorpark College library resources

The free Web is a good tool for finding information, but it is usually not the best place to begin academic research.
