Local and Wide Area Networks

Class Hours: 4 lecture
This course is designed to help you acquire the technical skills in understanding Local Area Networks
and Wide Area Networks. The first part of the class covers Local Area Network technologies.
Topics includes but not limited to LANs Fundamentals, Ethernet LANs, Token Ring and FDDI LANs,
ATM LANS, LAN Emulation, ATM Deployment, LAN Networking Software, and LAN Analysis. The second
part of the class covers Wide Area Networks. Topics include but not limited to WANs Fundamentals,
Physical Layer WAN Protocols, Data Link Layer WAN Protocols, Higher-Layer WAN Protocols, WAN Solutions,
and Convergence of Communications Over WAN Technologies. Applies to Associate Degree.
CNSE M13 -- 4 Units
Internetworking and TCP/IP
Prerequisite: CNSE M5
Class Hours: 4 lecture
This course offers two of the 8 networking fundamental courses in
3Com NetPrep program. Introduces TCP/IP networking architectures
and internetworking devices such as bridges, switches, and routers.
Includes the use of internetworking components as well as concepts
in network management and component selection. Applies to Associate
Degree.
