This course focuses on the overall security processes based on a security policy with an emphasis
on hands-on skills. Topics cover basic router and switch security, router Access Control Lists (ACLs)
and Context-based Access Control (CBAC), router Authentication, authorization, Accounting (AAA), router
intrusion detection, monitoring, and management, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) implementation.
This course covers the first half of the Cisco Fundamentals of Network Security Curriculum.
This course prepares students for Securing Cisco IOS Networks exam (SECUR 642-501).

Cisco Fundamentals of PIX Firewalls
Prerequisite: CNSE M18
Class Hours: 2 lecture & 3 lab
This course provides an in-depth introduction to Cisco Private Internet Exchange (PIX) Firewall technology.
Topics of PIX Firewall include translations and connections, Access Control Lists (ACLS), Authentication,
authorization, Accounting (AAA), advanced protocols and intrusion detection, Virtual Private Network (VPN),
and management. This course covers the second half of the Cisco Fundamentals of Network Security Curriculum.
This course prepares students for Cisco Secure PIX Firewall exam (CSPFA 642-521).
