Welcome to the Chemistry Department at Moorpark College |

We
offer a full spectrum of lower division undergraduate chemistry courses at our two-year college. Currently, there are four dedicated chemistry laboratory facilities focused on inorganic, organic, and biological chemistry. The instructional program is supported by two full-time laboratory technicians and several student lab assistants. The average chemistry class size consists of 25 students. Each course has combined lecture and laboratory components. |

A wide range of opportunities awaits the chemist in medicine, business, industry, government, and education. To earn an AA degree in Chemistry, a major requires 33 specified units plus General Education Degree Requirements. To obtain an AS degree in Chemistry, a major requires 42 specified units plus General Education Degree Requirements. Both major requirements optimize preparation for advanced degrees in Chemistry at four-year institutions. Earning a degree suggests an achievement of technical skills that may be helpful in seeking immediate employment. |
Chemistry is located in the Physical Science building on the east side of campus. We have four teaching laboratories, several lecture classrooms, and up-to-date laboratory equipment to provide you with required contemporary tools and techniques. Specialized instrumentation for chemical analyses include two gas chromatographs (GC) and Infrared (FTIR) and UV-VIS spectrophotometers in addition to the necessary equipment to conduct all General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry laboratories offered. |
