The Biology Department is a dynamic mix of dedicated faculty and staff whose focus is to stimulate interest in the biological science and provide a framework of knowledge in Biology including dealing with today’s issues i.e health, ecology, biotechnology…. The faculty come from a diverse background, reflecting the many aspects of the biological field. The department offers new courses such as Genetics and Molecular Biology and enriched classes in Field Biology, Natural History of Ventura, and Heredity, Evolution and Society. The curriculum includes marine biology, molecular biology, botany, and anatomy and physiology. A comprehensive program in Industrial Biotechnology is also available. The Biology program meets student’s needs in the areas of general education, transfer requirements, preparation for various professional programs and school to career demands. i.e. a certificate program in biotechnology.
