Tery McMaster named Webmaster. Assistant Baseball coach Tery McMaster was named to take over the new Moorpark College Athletic web site. Athletic's new site will be posted September 1. The new site will have a more reader friendly look to it with easier to read pages.
Men's Volleyball 2010 State Champions. The Raiders SWEPT Orange Coast College to win the 2010 CCCAA State Championship. Game scores were 30-24, 30-24, and 30-23. Adam Quinn was named Most Valuable Player, while Kyle Auge and Josh Howley were named to the All-Tournament team. more
Track and Field at CCCAA Southern California Championships. The Moorpark College Track and Field teams competed at Saddleback College in the Southern California Community College Championships. With the top 6 finishers in each event qualifying for the CCCAA State Meet to be held at Antelope Valley College, the Raiders will send a quality group to compete for a top 5 team finish.
The Raider Men finished in 4th place on the strength of the throwers who scored 48 of the 64 team points with Kenneth Sugishita winning the discus with a throw of 167'3" and was 2nd in the shot put (52'.5") and 4th in the hammer (169'0"). Also, Josh McClure won the shot put with a throw of 53'4.5". Other Raiders moving on will be Curtis Hodge, 3rd in the hammer 169' 4", Gabe Acero, 6th in the hammer with a throw of 170'1", Andrew Durham, 5th in the shot put (47'11.5") and placed 7th in the hammer (161'8"). Charlie Petrie finished 2nd in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:23.63. Isidore Herrera placed 4th in the 5,000 with a time of 15:20.6 and 3rd in the 10,000m in 31:38.
The Lady Raiders took 7th place with Jane Swenson scoring 24 of the team's 42 points. Swenson won the hammer (161'11"), placed 2nd in the shot put (43'11"), and took 3rd in the discus (141'6"). Madelyn Stoltze placed 2nd in the 5,000 with a time of 17:50.72 and 5th in the 10,000 (37:24). Shara Longbotham placed 3rd in the high jump with a jump of 5'3". more
The Moorpark College Athletic Department has renamed the Scholar Athlete of the Year Scholarship to the Jim Moore Scholar Athlete of the Year Scholarship to honor the first Athletic Director in school history. Moore passed away March 28, 2008. Those interested in donating to the scholarship can make checks payable to the MC Foundation and mailed to Moorpark College Athletics. The Moorpark College Foundation has set up a memorial scholarship in the name of Dave Klinzing to annually assist any graduating student/ trainer transferring to a 4 year school. "Big" Dave tragically lost his life 2/26/04 on his way to school. He had been studying to be an athletic trainer.
